2008 - the year of the rat, brings new adventures and artistic inspirations. This site is the first of many I am designing in an effort to help make the internet a more beautiful place! A total re-design was performed on the gee4law.com site (Please visit The Law Offices of Richard M. Gee for your personal & business legal needs). I have also recently desiged a website for the Las Vegas rock band, Lemonvine.
Fresh off my first solo art show in Las Vegas, I am now anticipating some exciting projects in the works. One is the inclusion of my two Elvis portraits in a new edition of Roger G. Taylor's book, "Elvis in Art", soon to be published in England. Last year I created a T-shirt design for The Mother Jones Band, who were named jamband artist of the year by The LA Music Awards in 2006. This past December saw me as the featured artist one week, then featured designer the next on artbistro.com.
Promoting the new Avaunt Fauves art movement is also a creative priority. Digital art is a controversial subject as seen by the passionate discussions on many art sites. The idea of blending this new media with traditional art has fueled a fire within me. Throughout history there have been numerous styles and media that have been questioned as to their validity and importance. In their infancy, Pop Art, Surrealism and Impressionism (amongst many other progressive art movements) brought on such controversy. The natural order of things is that we reject what we don’t understand. Hopefully in time, it will be generally understood that digital creations take just as much thought, creativity, study, education and research as any of the traditional art forms. I look at art for imagery and communication - if I am moved by the end result, then the techniques and tools used are to be admired.
